VELA LED Area Light Features
These outdoor lights offer adjustability, advantages over older technology, and a wide range options so that whether you're retrofitting old shoebox lights or looking for new parking lot lights, these outdoor LED lights have you covered! The VELA series of area light fixtures is designed to cover all bases with its wide range of features:
- Wattage Selectability: Adjust the brightness of your area light on site using the wattage selection switch inside the light fixture. Choose between 4 preset wattages based on the selected model.
- CCT Selectability: No need to worry about matching the color of your light if you have three of the most popular color selections all in one light. The VELA LED area light has you covered with color temperature selectability. Choose and switch between 3000K, 4000K, and 5000K! (Offered on select models)
- Three Lens Types: To ensure your outdoor lights are perfect for your space, the VELA series offers 3 different lens selections. Select the model of area light you need, check the photometrics for reference of the beam distrbution, and select the lens type you desire. It's that easy!
- Three Finishes: Choose between 3 finishes for your LED area lights. We offer the most popular colors for outdoor lighting: black, white, and dark bronze.
- Multiple Mounting Options: No matter where you're mounting your area lights, these area light mounts have you covered! We offer a total of 5 different mounts for area lights: slip fitter, yoke/trunnion, extrusion arm/pole mount, wall mount, and a multi-purpose universal mount (available on select models).
- Photocell Option: An optional add-on to LED parking lot lighting is the dusk-to-dawn feature, which ensures the lights come on only when needed. This feature saves the owner significant energy costs over the life of the LED lamp.

The recommended wattage and lumen output you need from an area light differs based on the dimensions of your space, the desired mounting height, and what the space is used for as required light levels vary based on application. If you're retrofitting metal halide area lights (or HPS area lights), you can compare any LED area lights to your old ones based on what its equivalent is. If you're doing a new installation, you can refer to photometric diagrams to see what coverage is provided as well as what's the recommended mounting height. If you need some help, you can request a free lighting layout so that a lighting expert can make an accurate recommendation based on your given space.
This is an add-on accessory for our area lights that automatcially turns the lights on at dusk and turns it off at dawn. This is great for people looking to save more on both money and energy.
These terms are all referring to the same type of light: the area light. "Shoebox light" is an older term for the light that refers to how the shape of the outdoor light resembles a shoebox. When people say "parking lot light", this is just referring to the designated purpose of the light. The different lens types III, IV, and V are the most popular lens selections for LED area lights. They help to shape the beam distribution of the lights, and there are benefits to each type:

- Type IV: Provide a more narrow and forward throwing beam distribution
- Type V: Perfect for if you need a light with a symmetrical beam with backthrow (not recommend if you're mounting to a wall)
