Engineered specifically for sea turtle nesting protection zones and coastal lighting compliance areas, this bollard light uses a true narrow-spectrum 590nm amber LED that eliminates short-wavelength blue light associated with wildlife disorientation. This makes it an ideal solution for beachfront developments, boardwalks, resorts, parks, and waterfront pathways.

Constructed from heavy-duty die-cast aluminum with a corrosion-resistant marine-grade finish, the fixture is built to withstand harsh salt-air environments and long-term coastal exposure. Its precision full-cutoff optical system delivers uniform, low-glare illumination while directing light downward to reduce light trespass, minimize sky glow, and preserve natural nighttime ecosystems.

Why is amber lighting better for sea turtles?

Sea turtle hatchlings are highly sensitive to short-wavelength blue and white light, an evolutionary adaptation that helps them navigate toward the brightest horizon over the ocean by detecting moonlight and natural sky glow.

However, most artificial lighting contains significant amounts of blue-spectrum light. This can cause hatchlings to become disoriented, moving inland instead of toward the ocean.

590nm amber LED lighting eliminates nearly all blue-spectrum emissions, producing a narrow-band amber wavelength that closely aligns with wildlife-safe lighting requirements.
